Over the past week or so I have been lending a hand to Greenstreets, a student led organisation aiming to reduce the amount of waste amassed during the student changeover period. We collect all donated items and distribute them to shelters, hostels, charity, and even other students. There is a free shop in Stylus at Leeds University Union, open from June 30 until July 03, and anyone can come and take what they need. We have clothing, jewellery, shoes, material, books, music, dvds, toiletries, furniture, kitchenware and other assorted household items. Highlights include ridiculously large trousers and a tweed suit.
I know someone took some photographs of the obscene amount of stuff we have (300 big bags+), so I will try to post them up here.
